Extended biography · 143 words

Zia Karim has spent nearly three decades building banking systems and software companies. He began at Salomon Brothers in London in 1997. At Goldman Sachs, where he became an Executive Director, he led a rebuild of global regulatory, tax and client reporting in wealth management across Zurich, London and New York.

His subsequent work included a syndicated loan-book transfer turnaround at RBS, the US part of a global programme at Barclays and North American delivery at Temenos. As CTO of Shoplandia, he built a platform for a shoppable-video marketplace. He later held senior product and technology roles at Emida and Scoops.

Today he is the founder of Threadneedle HQ and Holborn Mercer. His research and writing examine why institutions struggle to change and how AI systems should operate under human authority. His books are published by Clarkehouse Press; his essays appear on ZiaSpeaks.
